This article shares the options for adding images or videos to knowledge base articles.

Adding Images to Articles
When editing articles, click on the framed landscape icon, to reveal the following three options in different tabs:
- Reference the source (General)
- Input the physical path of the image in URL format. For example, if you were to have your image stored in the root of your Kayako instance, you would put in the Source field something like
http://your.kayako.url/image.png
. - Specify a description for the image along with the specific dimensions you would prefer the image to show.
- If you want the image to maintain its form, make sure to check the Constrain Proportions checkbox.
- Input the physical path of the image in URL format. For example, if you were to have your image stored in the root of your Kayako instance, you would put in the Source field something like

In this method, use the File Explorer to point to the image you would like to add, or drag it from the File Explorer and drop it in the dotted box, and click OK.

Adding Videos to Articles
When editing articles, click on the video film icon, to reveal the following three options in different tabs. Depending on the option, a video player will be shown enabling users to play the provided video.
- Reference the source (General)
- Input the physical path of the video in URL format. For example, if you were to have your video stored in the root of your Kayako instance, you would put in the Source field something like
http://your.kayako.url/video.mp4
. - Specify a description for the video along with the specific dimensions you would prefer the image to show.
- If you want the video to be shown in the standard 16:9 aspect ratio, make sure to check the Constrain Proportions checkbox.
- Input the physical path of the video in URL format. For example, if you were to have your video stored in the root of your Kayako instance, you would put in the Source field something like
- Embed
- In this method, it is required that the video you want to show is hosted on a video playing platform that enables code embedding.
- Obtain the code from that platform, copy it and paste it in the text box below the message: Paste your embed code.
- Advanced
Adding Multimedia with HTML
You can also insert multimedia via HTML coding by clicking either on Tools or on View and then Source code, but be aware that only HTML code is supported, which excludes other types of coding (e.g. scripts, JavaScript, lightbox).
